HALLOWEEN SCARES!
by Tom Lavagnino
The Scariest Sequence In Cinema.  For me? Minutes 33:28 through 40:28 of Tobe Hooper’s original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.  To Refresh Your Memory : That’s the sequence wherein Kirk (William Vail) and Pam (Teri McMinn) venture gingerly into the mysterious ranch house — tension, drama, and doomed foreboding hanging over every moment — and Leatherface proceeds to deliver a one-two punch (Kirk gets ”pounded on the head,” Pam “hung up on the hook”) as only Leatherface can.  Perhaps not the most original seven minutes I’ve ever experienced in cinema, but unquestionably the scariest.
